What is PUSH Therapy?
PUSH Therapy is a ground-breaking, innovative form of specialized
muscle therapy. It was developed by Takatsuno Therapies specifically to
relieve the pain that occurs with chronic muscle tension.
Chronic tension in muscles at rest is often the most significant factor
involved in ongoing pain, dysfunction, and discomfort in adults. It can
be eliminated with a comprehensive program of assessment, systematic
treatment, self-care, core strengthening and muscle re-education.
Why should I get PUSH treatments?
If you suffer from muscle or joint pain or stiffness, PUSH Therapy can
provide the solution. Many clients have obtained relief from the pain
associated with arthritis, carpal tunnel, fibromyalgia, headache, low
back pain, plantar fasciitis, repetitive strain injury, restless leg,
sciatica, tendonitis, TMJ syndrome, whiplash, and other conditions.
If you are a sports enthusiast or weekend warrior, methodical PUSH
treatments can prevent injury and help you sustain peak performance.
Anyone can experience improved quality of life because the PUSH Therapy
System is so comprehensive. The program acts to enhance overall
well-being by restoring balance and reducing biological age.
How soon will I get better?
One of the many advantages of the PUSH Therapy System is that a
personalized treatment plan will be created for you. You will also be
trained to accelerate your own healing, using easy, practical methods.
After just a handful of sessions, you should experience significant
change. Many clients are aware of some improvement after the very first
treatment.
The system is designed so that you can easily assess your own
improvement and decide whether you are making steady progress toward
your goals
How many treatments will I need?
The number of treatment sessions needed to achieve desired goals can
vary greatly. PUSH Therapy is tailored to your individual needs and
also depends on your participation. If your condition is severe or has
developed over a long period of time, it will take longer to resolve.
What do you mean, I don't have to get undressed?
There's no need to take off your clothes. You receive PUSH Therapy
while you are fully dressed. Since your muscles are treated through
your clothing, we ask you to wear sports or workout attire. The only
thing you will be asked to remove is your shoes.
What if I don't have a specific problem?
PUSH Therapy will help you
avoid problems. With the PUSH Treatment Plan, you can actually decrease your biological age and enhance your well-being.
You will sleep more soundly and have more energy for everyday
activities. You can avoid injury and improve your body mechanics. You
can play harder and and improve your game.
We see many clients once a month or so on our mobility and maintenance
program. Small issues can be quickly identified before they become
larger ones. Mobility exercises can be refined and adjusted so that
they are even more effective.
The PUSH program is so comprehensive that it has something to offer
almost anyone. It can empower you to change your life!
How does it work?
PUSH Therapy uses a unique approach to stimulate muscle tissue so that
blood flow is increased. Pressure is systematically applied to related
muscle groups. As blood flow increases, oxygen becomes more available
to soft tissues and normal function can be restored.
But, it is much more than a set of manual techniques. The PUSH
Treatment Plan adds training and self-treatment to accelerate progress.
The complete program helps clients achieve long-term changes in
structural anatomy and core strength. As a bonus, they learn how to
maintain improved function on their own.
How long is a treatment?
Treatment sessions usually last 60 to 90 minutes.
How often will I need to get treatment?
Depending on your specific needs, the first treatment sessions will be
most effective if scheduled 4 to 7 days apart. If you are a serious
athlete, or have acute pain, treatments can be applied more often. As
your body responds, treatments can be scheduled with less frequency.
What problems can be helped with PUSH Therapy?
PUSH clients have reported increased function and relief from the pain of:
Athletic Injury, Auto Accident, Back Pain, Carpal Tunnel Syndrome,
Exercise Pain, Frozen Shoulder, Headache, Knee Pain, Migraine, Plantar
Fasciitis, Restless Leg Syndrome, Sciatica, Tendonitis, TMJ Syndrome,
Whiplash, and more.
Are PUSH techniques similar to some used by physical therapists?
PUSH techniques release and lengthen tight, rigid, contracted muscle
tissue so it can return to a relaxed and supple resting state. The
overall objective is to relieve pain, increase range of motion, improve
muscle tone and restore correct postural alignment.
The PUSH Therapy System is a comprehensive program that integrates a
customized treatment plan, systematic muscle therapy work, client
education, core strengthening, and mobility training.
Physical therapy, in general, focuses on building strength in specific
areas and using ultrasound, stretching, and other equipment and
techniques to loosen tissues.
How is PUSH Therapy different from massage therapy?
The PUSH experience, protocols, and results are quite different from
massage. First, clients are treated while completely clothed.
PUSH Therapy is not just a set of techniques, but a comprehensive
program. With a customized treatment plan, systematic muscle therapy
work is integrated with client education, core strengthening, and
mobility training.
The goal of PUSH Therapy is to permanently change the soft tissues of
the body so that lasting improvements in structure, function, strength
and performance are achieved.
What does "PUSH" stand for?
The letters of "PUSH" stand for
power
under
soft
hands. It is the trademarked logo of Takatsuno Therapies, Inc.
Where did PUSH Therapy come from?
Michael Takatsuno is the founder and Director of the PUSH Therapy
Center in Mountain View, California. He developed this innovative and
unique form of specialized muscle therapy after years of study and
research. He had become frustrated with the limitations of traditional
bodywork, its toll on his body, and the lack of lasting results. An
extensive background in human anatomy, bodywork and Tai Chi Chu'uan
provided the tools for him to discover the root cause of most soft
tissue and join pain. He then formulated systematic techniques to
address those problems.
Mr. Takatsuno observed the impressive, life-changing outcomes of his
work and built a highly successful practice. A true healer, he became
dedicated to sharing his discoveries with others. In order to achieve
this goal, he developed an intensive training program, rigorous
credentialing requirements, and a continuing education system that
prepares therapists to practice this advanced form of bodywork.
The goal of PUSH Therapy is to permanently change the soft tissues of
the body so that lasting improvements in structure, function, strength
and performance are achieved.
